FAQ

1. What do I do if after a full battery charge my device will not turn on?

Perform a hard reset. To do this, push the Power and Reset buttons at the same time - hold for 6 seconds, or until the LED light turns white. The hard reset is complete when the white light turns on. Check the LED operation guide for more information.

2. What do I do if the device turned on for less than a minute and then turned off?

This might indicate there was an incorrect password or 5 GHz frequency was being attached. Please try to do ‘Power on,’ immediately to ‘Reset’ within 30 seconds, then you will see ‘red and green light blinking. Then please continue to do the provisioning process again.

5. Where can I get help with the setup process?

If you need help with the setup or provisioning process, please visit www.petpuls.net/guide.

6. Does the Petpuls app require a subscription?

No, no subscription is required.

7. Is Petpuls waterproof?

Petpuls is water-resistant and has an IP54 rating, meaning it is protected from splashing water. Petpuls should not be submerged.

8. How long is the battery life?

Petpuls lasts a minimum of 8 hours on a full charge and up to 12-14 hours depending on the usage. The transfer of sound data uses a lot of battery power, so if your dog has a busy day the battery will need to be recharged sooner. For the best experience, we recommend charging the device overnight.

9. Why doesn’t the app work when I take my dog for walks?

The Petpuls device tethers to the owner’s smartphone while outdoors and syncs with the paired app once back on the home Wi-Fi. When the device is outside of the Wi-Fi range, it continues to collect bark data and stores it in the local memory. When you return home, the device will automatically send the stored bark and activity data to the main Petpuls Labs server. Your app will update and show emotion data soon.

10. Why is my dog always angry or sad - even when she seems happy? Is there something wrong with my dog?

It is unlikely there is anything wrong with your dog! Petpuls is effective at determining the emotion behind vocal sounds, however body language plays a part in determining a dog’s emotional status too. Dogs tend to bark more when they are angry, frustrated, anxious or sad. However, when they are happy they may bark but are more likely to show their joy through their body. Watch for the following:

  • High and fast tail wagging
  • Wagging or wiggling from the waist to the tail
  • Jumping playfully around you, especially hopping on two legs
  • Showing the belly

In the case of extended or excessive negative emotions, you may consider having your pet checked by a professional.
